It was afternoon on the day of Christ’s resurrection, and two of His disciples were walking with bowed heads and heavy hearts from Jerusalem to their home in Emmaus. Discouragement flooded their minds, and they doubted if the crucified Jesus really was the Messiah. Suddenly a Stranger joined them, and “beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27). Unrecognized by His grieving disciples, the resurrected Savior walked with them to answer their questions and give them understanding. Similarly, after His second coming and the resurrection of the righteous dead, Jesus will give His people 1,000 years to understand His justice and to answer questions regarding His fairness.
